We respectfully state that the Department of Mathematics was established in 1960. Since its inception, the department has consistently dedicated itself to providing quality education and promoting academic excellence. In close and harmonious coordination with faculty members, local authorities, and the guardians of our students, the department works sincerely toward the holistic development of every learner.
It is our vision to develop a strong academic environment that fosters critical thinking, innovation, and excellence in Mathematics. We further aspire to prepare our students responsibly for higher education and advanced research.
With a sense of purpose and commitment, the department pursues the following missions:
- To provide quality education in Mathematics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with due attention to academic rigour and student support.
- To encourage analytical and logical thinking among students, thereby empowering them for lifelong learning.
- To promote research activities and academic growth, respecting the contributions of both faculty and students.
- To prepare students thoroughly for competitive examinations and higher studies, acknowledging their diverse career aspirations.
We respectfully note that the department has played a significant role in the academic development of our institution over the past six decades. It has been our privilege to produce many successful graduates who have excelled in higher education, teaching professions, and various competitive examinations. Through dedicated teaching and robust student support, the department continues to strive for academic excellence with humility and determination.
Undergraduate Programme: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics – A three year programme covering core mathematical concepts, analytical methods, and foundational courses in allied sciences.
Postgraduate Programme: Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics – A two year programme offering advanced study in pure and applied mathematics, including elective specialisations and a dissertation component.
(We respectfully add that if further details such as eligibility criteria or course structures are required, we remain ready to provide them.)
The department respectfully encourages research initiatives among both students and faculty members. Our faculty actively participate in seminars, workshops, and refresher courses to keep their knowledge and pedagogical skills updated. In the spirit of service, we engage in extension activities such as academic counselling, student mentoring, and community awareness programmes on mathematical literacy. Among our best practices, we respectfully highlight the use of ICT tools, student centric teaching methods (e.g., flipped classrooms, problem based learning), and regular assessment feedback mechanisms.
We remain deeply committed to maintaining high academic standards, fostering a culture of innovation and research, and providing quality education for the overall development of our students. Every effort is made with respect for the trust placed in us by our students and society.
