Established in 1960 as a constituent unit of Patliputra University, the Department of Botany at T.P.S. College is a hub for botanical research and education. It focuses on equipping students with deep knowledge of plant biology and modern trends in biological sciences.
The department aims to prepare students for lifelong learning by exploring the vast world of plant knowledge and introducing them to systematic academic inquiry. It strives to provide a firm foundation in all aspects of Botany while incorporating modern scientific trends.

Founded by philanthropist Thakur Prasad Singh to provide quality education to the rural and weaker sections of society. The department houses a Biodiversity Club that organizes significant field research, including the documentation of rare medicinal plants at Barabar Hills.
