On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the Department of Botany, T.P.S. College, Patna, organized an educational excursion to Barabar Hills under the aegis of the TPS College Biodiversity Club. Led by Dr. Vinay Bhushan Kumar, around 30 postgraduate students participated in the field visit. Known for its rich biodiversity, Barabar Hills hosts rare plant species such as Gudmar, Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Goolar, Bakain, and wild onion. Students studied their medicinal properties, ecological significance, and the need for conservation, using field guides, magnifying glasses, and notebooks for documentation.

Dr. Vinay Bhushan Kumar emphasized that the excursion created biodiversity awareness and highlighted Barabar Hills’ immense potential as an eco-tourism hub that can promote environmental education and conservation. Principal Prof. Tapan Kumar Shandilya praised the initiative as a vital step toward environmental awareness. Conducted with all safety measures, the visit proved both educational and inspiring. The Biodiversity Club also resolved to recommend developing Barabar Hills as an eco-tourism center, which would aid biodiversity conservation while attracting tourists and researchers alike.
